Lost Ending Available...
Upon the new release of the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection Volume 2 - its now been proven that the original 'lost' ending of 'Hare-Um Scare-Um' is now in the actual cartoon itself which is complete. David Gerstein discovered the lost ending of a couple of years back. It was a theatrical edit from the beginning and it was likely to be removed since its too similar to the Daffy Duck and Egghead opening.
At least there is a copy of it existing on YouTube but the video has been filmed by a viewer with the DVD. Looks like the 'Platinum Collection' is a real treat for fans but however; STILL - despite it containing the original credits to A Horsefly Fleas, and this original ending and also 10 new cartoons restored - the rest...I already have and I'm quite happy with what I have.
Hopefully somebody will post the complete version of it on YouTube from a computer and perhaps I could use it by the time when I come to reviewing the cartoon (as I'm currently still reviewing 1938 cartoons and am a year away of reviewing this cartoon. The lost ending ends the rumour of the "heads rolling over the hills" as it is more or less, a rip-off to the ending of 'Daffy Duck and Egghead' and it extends my thoughts of Ben Hardaway copying Avery.
Actually, according to Dave Monahan in a interview; the story credits in the 1937-38 season were rotated and the story guys were put in groups. Hardaway probably did work on that cartoon but other guys would have contributed as well.
To be fair, Ben Hardaway was CREDITED for story on "Daffy Duck and Egghead"

DeleteWell, Hardaway's rabbit character IS Daffy Duck in a rabbit costume...
