Their antics in their various cartoons are almost like those you could imagine Hal Roach devising for the OUR GANG kids, regardless of how contrived those situations can be. Also, Buddy being voiced by a child lends real character, real personality to this version. It seems that so many characters of the 1930's were voiced in falsetto by one of the animators, similar (too similar) to Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse.
