When it comes to reviewing stuff like this, you can't be afraid (I reviewed two Pepe Le Pew cartoons on Facebook and Tumblr, two social media platforms that would surely rip me apart for trying to find the good in a cartoon short series that isn't seen favorably these days. Not as much as the Censored Eleven, but close. And speaking of which, I also did reviews the 12 banned Bugs Bunny cartoons on Facebook, including "All This and Rabbit Stew"). C.L. If the production delay is true, Mel Blanc's brief vocal work here could actually have been his first job for Friz Freleng, ahead of voicing the younger miser mouse in "The Fella With the Fiddle".J Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15175515543694122729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1589696115267272664.post-26943133454200928472012-05-13T13:14:29.762-07:002012-05-13T13:14:29.762-07:00"Schlesinger and Warner Bros. were facing pro..."Schlesinger and Warner Bros. were facing problems with the Production Code because of it's burlesqued religion." According to whom?
Religion is not portrayed in a negative light whatsoever. This cartoon would have easily passed muster with the Hayes Office because religion wins out in the end. Even the Devil converts to Judeo-Christian beliefs.
I suspect the tap-dancing guy is Bill Robinson, considering the cartoon is one of a number at this period of black star caricatures.Yowphttp://yowpyowp.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1589696115267272664.post-23925706350377810992012-05-13T10:22:48.985-07:002012-05-13T10:22:48.985-07:00That's actually Fats WALLER, not Walker.

The numbers are descending as he keeps going through the tape, indicating that Pair-O-Dice isn't doing so good, since all the people want to do what are considered decadent acts, like gambling, drinking, etc.Devon Baxterhttp://www.youtube.com/baxterfilmsnoreply@blogger.com
